About Me
I’m Joseph Madden, a psychodynamic psychotherapist. I work with adults who feel stuck, frustrated, or disconnected, often sensing that patterns from their family or early life continue to shape how they live and relate — even if it’s not clear how.
I specialize in exploring how patterns passed down through generations, along with personal history and experiences of hurt or trauma, shape the way people relate to themselves and others.
I came to therapy myself after noticing how similar struggles — and chasing solutions in the wrong places — were affecting my life.
Who I Work With
I support people who:
Feel stuck, burned out, or frustrated
Struggle with stress, suppressed feelings, or unexpressed thoughts
Experience challenges in relationships
Are neurodivergent or affected by past trauma
I also work with couples seeking better communication and connection.
How I Work
During our time together, I aim to create an environment where you can feel curious about your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. We’ll look at how different parts of yourself show up in your life, and how patterns may be influencing you.
I stay present, reflecting to you what I notice so you can see your experiences from a new perspective.
We work to understand and integrate your needs, passions, and the reflective parts, into a coherent whole, leading to more fulfilment and enjoyment.
I work with adults from diverse socio-economic, sexual, gender, racial and cultural backgrounds.
